Rocky Mountain National Park - WOW!

Each day of our journey left us with memories that will will take with us for many years to come. Today was no different. Liz made us a fantastic breakfast before we set off to ride the Rim road of the RMNP. If you have not had the chance to visit the park, it must be added to your bucket list. The views are pure Colorado. Breath taking, Grand and my words or pictures do not even come close to describing how amazing this place is. Trust me it is a place to be seen.

Leonard and liz joined us on our ride today. Its always fun riding solo with my awesome pillion, but from time to time the fellowship of rising with friends is much needed. We are so glad to have such nice people in our lives. Leonard and Liz are great people and we are proud to call them friends.

We rode the rim road, taking our time and stopping to take pictures from time to time. We stopped at one scenic area and a little boy was very interested in the motorcycles. Leonard let him sit on the wing. The kid will never be the same. The smile was ear to ear. That kid is hooked. We enjoyed the park. The traffic was not horrible and weather was perfect.

I could post hundreds of pictures, but they could never do the area its due justice. We headed down in Estes Park Colorado for a quick bite and a refreshing drink. It was nice being able to take our time and enjoy our vacation. I love the way that our world slows down when we make it. We did the tourist thing and just hung out. Leonard and Liz would ride with us to Black Hawk Colorado and they would break off and head home back to Granby. We are jealous, that they get to do this anytime they want. What a cool place to have a summer get away.

Jamie and I hit a couple of Casinos and played some slots before heading into Evergreen. The road into Evergreen is very nice and a good way to have a spirited ride without lots of traffic. We were in Evergreen by mid afternoon.

We have lifelong friends that open their house to us when we are there. They live in a beautiful place in the mountains of Evergreen. Its a great place and I would love to live someplace like that someday. Thank Pete and Vebeke for your hospitality.

Vebeke and Jamie from a previous trip in 2013.
We met our Son Alec for dinner. He was not able to attend our family reunion as he had surgery to work on his arm, so we were glad to be able to spend some time with him. We met him at Gary Lees motor club and grub. It is a trendy place in Denver. It was a cool place. We caught up with Alec and Pete and enjoyed a nice Denver evening. There was one thing that was odd this evening.

After dark the place started to get packed with kids on bicycles wearing costumes and playing music. By the time the sun went down there had to be 75-100 kids on bikes. Just as quickly as they assembled, a guy jumped on a bike, that featured a full blown DJ speaker system. He called everyone together and off they rode. All of this, beer drinking, costume wearing, pot smoking (yes you could smell the medicinal herb) and music blaring gathering hit the road and disappeared. It is still one of the strangest things I have ever witnessed. cool.. but strange.

Today was an awesome day. Got to see some beautiful scenery, spend time with good friends and got to see my son. We finished the evening in Evergreen chatting with Pete and trying to visualize how the day could have been better. Wow what a great day! Tomorrow Pikes Peak!
